Consultant of Online Learning Platform and Educational Game Developer
Hivos seeks qualified Indonesian candidates for the position of Consultant of Online Learning Platform and Educational Game Developer.
Background
The early voters (17-35 years old) source most of information online through social media and news feed such as Instagram, Facebook and LINE Today. Many of contents that are accessible online, indicate discrimination against minority groups as well as promote intolerant attitudes. Those contents are often posted in a form of hoax or disinformation provoking debates among the internet users. The dissemination of hoax contents online express discriminative tone and often incline to hate speech messages. Several research reports suggest that young people are vulnerable to be exposed by intolerant messages either online or offline.
To anticipate the effects of disinformation to young people, Hivos initiates an anti-hoax project. The project aims to effectively stimulate young people’s critical media literacy skills through a self-learning platform. The project has undertaken a mapping study to analyze current landscape of hoax prevention and to understand insights from young people as native social media users. The mapping result provides actionable points to develop learning guideline and platform process. The guideline will act as the main reference of principles and methods. It will be translated into several audio-visual materials (game, video, infographic, etc) and be available online to facilitate the students’ learning process.
Hivos conducted a human-centered design workshop to identify relevant solution and insights from targeted users. A learning guideline has been developed to give direction in the online learning process. The guideline proposed several educational games to support the lessons and to improve the learning experience. For this purpose, Hivos is seeking for a consultant to develop a web application to host the online learning including interactive educational quiz and games as supporting materials.
Objectives
The objective of the consultancy work are:
- To develop a web application for the online learning process
- To create educational quiz and games embedded in the web application
Outputs
The expected outputs are:
- A web application
- Four interactive quizzes
- Two educational games
Scope of work
- Responsible for designing, coding and modifying website, from layout to function
- Create visually appealing web app and games that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation
- Participate in and/or lead the development of deliverable content that meets the expected learning outcome
- Conduct user testing
Requirements
- Individuals and organizations are eligible to apply
- Preferably 3-5-year minimum experience in developing websites and online games
- Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, Cross-browser compatibility, General web functions
- Deep expertise and hands-on experience with Web Applications and Programming languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQueary, and API’s
- Deep functional knowledge or hands-on experience with online learning platform is a plus
- Strong grasp of security principles and how they apply to online learning platform
- Creative approach
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
Duration of Contracts
The consultant will work for maximum 40 days. The development process will be carried out from May to July 2019.
