“Believing in the community’s voice, driving movements forward”

Semai Setara, or seeding equality, is an active and conscious effort to enable the growth of collective actions. Through Semai Setara, Dayakita supports organizations and communities that put collective care at the beating heart of demanding and reclaiming rights, influencing narratives, and strengthening voices for change and justice.

The cries for justice for women and marginalized groups come from every corner, region, and place. When nurtured, the voices will be stronger and more powerful. It will be heard and will not be dismissed.

We believe in the power of local communities and organizations to unite movements through an innovative approach. As we become one, the voice will bring together the people, without dismissing their specific concerns. It will be louder to support the women frontliners.

FAQs

The goals of your initiative should include ways to build or reclaim the narrative, broaden reach, and push for social justice with a strong gender perspective. The activity may include: campaign, alternative media production (film, podcast, photographs), training, narrative research, documenting or archiving women’s history, workshop, intergenerational dialogue, reflection, mentorship (for women, journalists, artists, young activists, or other relevant rightsholders), data driven advocacy, discussion series, guideline or tools publication for communities, social experiments (community lab or collective learning space), and other contextual initiatives.

Humanis will process the administrative and initiative’s compatibility with the grant’s goal selection process. The results from this stage will be sent to Panel Selection members, who include a member of Dayakita’s Board of Advisory, a women's activist, media specialists, or academics with relevant expertise.

This is a conscious affirmative action effort from Humanis. Our baseline study suggests that women’s rights organizations or communities have limited access to the funding ecosystem. It should be emphasized that, for us, transwoman is a woman. Hence, the organization with a transwoman as their leader is eligible to apply.

Only a non-profit organization is eligible to apply. However, we understand that some business units, like local cooperatives or sociopreneurship, do not concern themselves with profit or capital accumulation. Therefore, this kind of organization may be eligible to apply by submitting a portfolio of past initiatives that centralize women’s rights.

A host organization is a non-profit organization that will serve as an intermediary for administrative processes between Humanis and the community that may not possess a deed of establishment or other legal documents. The host organization does not necessarily need to be women-led. However, the host organization should showcase their stance of supporting women’s rights through the submitted portfolio. The community or collective that applies for these grants should be led by a woman.
