Social Media Officer Consultant

Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial is an Indonesian organization affiliated with Stichting Hivos, born out of an active collaboration between Netherlands-based Hivos and several like-minded Indonesian academics and civil society leaders who subscribe to the values and mission of Hivos. The purpose is to promote humanist values in the social, health, environmental, and cultural fields, which is defined in terms of the ability of each individual to assess and decide independently and responsibly, the right to freedom, dignity, and a passion to create a just, sustainable and tolerant society.

The organisation seeks qualified candidates for the position of:

Contract Period          :  6 months with the possibility of extension depending on the performance



Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial is officially registered in Indonesia in 2018, but we only started to activate the organization in 2021. Although we are legally registered in Indonesia, we cover the work in Southeast Asia. Currently, we manage programs in Indonesia, the Philippines, Timor Leste, and Vietnam. We focus on three impact areas: Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI), Civic Rights in Digital Era (CRiDA), and Climate Justice. To achieve our vision and mission, we believe in these four strategies of change: support emerging leaders and changemakers, facilitate co-creation and innovation, change public discourses and attitudes, and join alliances that advocate for change.


Since last year, we have been starting to develop our own communication and branding strategy, it is expected that we will have the new strategies completed in August 2023. It is important for us though, to maintain the organization’s social media accounts to increase our visibility, communicate the organization’s messages and amplify some of the program campaigns.


Job Description

Social Media Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and monitoring the organization’s Social Media Accounts to increase the organization’s visibility, improve community engagement and increase program awareness. With guidance from the management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our Social Media activities in order to increase our online presence and improve our program campaign and public awareness. You will be working closely with Management Team. The key responsibilities of the social media officer are:

  • Develop creative and engaging social media strategies
  • Manage the day-to-day handling of all social media channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube, adapting content to suit different channels
  • Develop, launch, and manage new competitions and campaigns that promote our organization and the program
  • Develop social media content (with the support of Project Managers) with a maximum number that can be discussed further (we estimate max 15-20/months)
  • Co-ordinate the work of other comm or social media officers in the organization to develop content suitable for social media channels to fully engage different stakeholders
  • Form key relationships with influencers across the social media platforms
  • Undertake audience research, monitor, track, analyse, and report on performance on social media platforms using tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook insights, and other data analytical sources
  • Research and evaluate the latest trends and techniques in order to find new and better ways of measuring social media activity
  • Recommend improvements to increase performance
  • Manage a budget for social media activities
  • Educate other staff on the use of social media and promote its use within the organization (in-house roles

Knowledge, Experiences, and Competencies

  • Having knowledge of how the social media works
  • Familiar with gender equality, feminism, women’s leadership, civic rights, and climate justice
  • Proactive and able to work with a minimum supervision
  • Creative and innovative, as well as able to produce the new idea timely
  • Having expertise and experience in strong Visual Aesthetic
  • Strong skills and experience in storytelling and copywriting in the various social media
  • Having the ability in updating the trend in order to develop the updated social media content
